Authorize.net is a payment gateway that combines with Magento and transmits the transaction to the merchant account or processor quickly, efficiently and inexpensively. Authorize.Net administers the routing of transactions like that of a credit card swipe machine you would find in a store. The major difference is that this payment gateway uses the Internet as opposed to a phone line. There are many features and options when you combine Magento and Authorize.net. To your benefit, it means that there a wide variety of customization options available to you.
