NMI How To: Change Your Bank Account Information & Prevent NSF Fees

Have you recently changed banks and closed your old account? If you have and you use NMI as your gateway you will need to update the account and routing numbers on file at NMI (Network Merchants, Inc.). When the next billing cycle comes around, if NMI tries to draft your fees from your old checking account and is unsuccessful, you will be hit with a $30 NSF (insufficient funds) charge, and you may not be able to process until that is cleared up! Changing your bank account information at NMI (Network Merchants, Inc) is a simple process: just call your reseller, provide them with a voided check or similar and they’ll make the change for you.  Keep in mind this is currently the only way to update your account info (called DDA and ABA). You cannot do it through your NMI log-in, nor can you do it by calling NMI directly. Also, don’t forget to change your bank account information with your credit card processor as well! Authorize.Net and on-line firearms sales

Update: As of January 2014 Authorize.Net is now allowing licensed, on-line gun/ FFL dealerspepper spray sites, and ammunition websites to be set up on the Authorize.Net payment gateway but – you must make sure it is paired with an FFL friendly merchant account on the back end. So, when exactly are you billed for NMI payment gateway services?

NMI (Network Merchants LLC, DBA Network Merchants, Inc.) is the go-to payment gateway for most of our high-risk accounts. Their knowledgeable customer support team is always happy to help whenever needed. One question that pops up frequently is: When can I expect to be billed for my NMI gateway? Typically most accounts are billed during the first five days of the month — for the preceding month’s fees. This includes the monthly fee, per item fees and any optional services you may have ordered, like iSpy Fraud detection or electronic check processing. Fees are automatically drafted from your checking account on file at NMI. Be sure to keep enough money in that account to avoid any potential overdraft fees —as of the time of this post $25 per overdraft — not including what your bank might charge! Keep in mind, as your volume grows over time, you may see a mid-month billing when your account has accumulated $50 in fees. If more than one monthly billing makes it challenging for accounting purposes, let me know. I can often request that NMI change their billing cycle to only draft your fees once a month. Again, this only applies when you have more than $50 in fees during a calendar month.
